INTEGRATED LEARNING EXPERIENCEHolistic learning is not a claim that every subject must disappear into one project. It means that schools take responsibility for the learner's full development and make purposeful connections between knowledge, skills, values, physical and mental well-being, creativity, relationships and participation.
Curricular integration is one way to achieve that coherence. A well-designed integration starts with a meaningful concept, question or context, keeps disciplinary rigour visible, and gives learners opportunities to transfer understanding across situations. The aim is depth and relevance—not simply adding more tasks.
Subjects contribute different ways of knowing. Integration should preserve the integrity of language, mathematics, science, social science, arts, physical education and vocational learning while helping students see how knowledge works together.
This practice model is an editorial tool derived from the holistic, experiential and multidisciplinary directions in NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023.

Inquiry: How can our school reduce water waste?
Science can explore the water cycle, conservation and measurement. Mathematics can analyse usage data, ratios and projected savings. Language can support interviews, persuasive writing and public communication. Social science can examine community access and public responsibility. Art and design can create visual communication. Technology and vocational learning can support prototyping or a practical audit.
The integration is successful when each subject makes a real contribution and the final evidence shows both conceptual understanding and responsible action. Students should be able to explain what they learned, how they know it, what they made or changed, and what they would do next.

Holistic learning needs more than a single project grade. Teachers can combine short disciplinary checks with observation, student explanation, a portfolio, peer feedback, a performance or artefact, and a reflection on choices and impact.

Students investigate, discuss, make, practise and receive feedback.
